NEWARK, DELAWARE — The Delaware Laborers District Council, an affiliate of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), on Tuesday endorsed Dr. Bethany Hall-Long for Delaware Governor.
Dr. Hall-Long, the state’s current lieutenant governor, has a notable track record of responsiveness and support for issues concerning Delawarean working families and union members, earning her an early and enthusiastic endorsement from the 1,500-member union in advance of the 2024 gubernatorial election.
“Lt. Gov. Hall-Long has a history of listening to our issues and working with us, stretching back to her time as a District 8 state representative,” said Curtis Linton, Business Manager of Laborers Local 199. “Since 2002, she has distinguished herself as a leader who actively seeks community input, builds coalitions, and develops and implements public policies that benefit all Delawareans. Local 199 members are eager to show her their support through voter registration efforts, membership education programs, and voter turnout efforts from now until Election Day.”
LIUNA Vice President and Eastern Regional Manager Michael E. Hellstrom echoed Linton’s support for Hall-Long, citing her deep understanding and commitment to issues affecting Delaware families. “From affordability issues related to housing and healthcare, to the creation of good-paying, family-supporting jobs, Bethany Hall-Long stands alongside LIUNA members and our families in believing a better Delaware only happens when we build a stronger, more vibrant middle class.”
